Kimi Code is an AI-powered coding agent and CLI tool from Moonshot AI, usable as a terminal application and via IDE integrations (VS Code, Cursor, Zed, JetBrains). The tool itself is open source and free (MIT license), while access to the underlying Kimi models (currently including Kimi K3, Kimi K2.7 Code) is billed through paid Kimi membership plans or usage-based API pricing. Kimi Code was first released in January 2026 alongside the Kimi K2.5 model and has since been continuously updated with newer model versions (K2.6, K2.7 Code, K3).
