Manus is a general-purpose autonomous AI agent by Butterfly Effect (Singapore) that independently plans and executes complex multi-step tasks — including web research, code execution, data analysis, full-stack web development, and the creation of presentations and reports. It uses a multi-agent system (Planner and Executor agents among others) and runs each task in a cloud-based virtual environment (Ubuntu sandbox). The agent operates asynchronously in the cloud and can complete tasks without continuous user supervision. It is available as a web app, desktop app (Windows), iOS app, and browser extension (Browser Operator for Chrome/Edge).
