Hermes Agent is an Open Source autonomous AI agent from Nous Research that runs locally or on your own server infrastructure, equipped with persistent memory and self-generated "Skills." It connects to over 20 messaging platforms (including Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, email, and CLI) and offers integrated tools such as web search, browser automation, image generation, text-to-speech, and vision capabilities. The project was first released in February 2026 (v0.1.0) and is distributed free of charge under the MIT license; costs are primarily incurred through optional LLM API usage or hosting. It supports numerous LLM providers (Nous Portal, OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, and others) and is available via native desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux as well as CLI/Terminal installation.
