Cline is an open-source, agentic AI coding agent that runs as a VS Code extension (as well as JetBrains, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, Neovim). The agent reads and edits files, executes terminal commands with explicit user approval, and autonomously completes multi-step tasks. Cline supports any LLM provider through bring-your-own API keys (Claude, GPT, Gemini, local via Ollama) and requires no subscription for the extension itself; you only pay for LLM inference.
