Kilo (also known as "Kilo Code") is an open-source, model-agnostic agentic engineering platform and CLI for software development, available as a VS Code extension, JetBrains plugin, CLI, and web/cloud access. Users can choose from more than 500 AI models across providers and switch models mid-task, paying provider rates with no markup. The product is open source under the MIT license, supports MCP server integrations, and offers modes such as Ask, Architect, Code, Debug, and Orchestrator, plus a fully autonomous "--auto" mode for CI/CD pipelines. In July 2026, Kilo Code was acquired by Anaconda but remains open source and unchanged for existing users per the official announcement.
