Turnitin AI Writing Detection (part of Turnitin Originality) is an institutional feature for detecting AI-generated text in student submissions. Launched in April 2023, it is integrated into the Similarity Report interface and accessible via LMS integrations (LTI) and the Turnitin Core API. The tool provides a percentage of AI content per document along with sentence-level highlighting, but according to manufacturer documentation is explicitly not recommended as the sole basis for sanctions. Pricing is negotiated on an institutional and individual basis, with no public per-user price.
