OpenClaw 2.0 (internal version number v2026.8.1) is the largest update to date for the Open Source personal AI agent OpenClaw, released in late August 2026. The update comprises over 16,000 Pull Requests from 933 contributors and affects nearly all core components including installation, memory, skills, models, automations, browser and native apps, plugins, and security. Key innovations include a newly built browser interface, multi-user/cloud sessions, enhanced security mechanisms (Sandboxing, role-based access control, masked credentials), and significantly simplified setup. The software remains a free MIT-licensed Open Source solution, with costs only incurred through infrastructure and connected AI models.
