Open WebUI is a self-hosted, Open Source web interface for running large language models, which can operate both locally (e.g., via Ollama) and through cloud providers (OpenAI, Anthropic). The platform offers RAG functionality, web search, plugins/tools, multi-user management, and Enterprise features such as SSO and audit logs. The project was launched in October 2023 as "Ollama WebUI" and was renamed to "Open WebUI" in January 2024. The core code is free and Open Source; for enterprises, optional paid Enterprise licenses are available with white-label options, SLA, and LTS.
