Gemini CLI is an open-source AI agent by Google that brings Gemini models directly into developers' terminals. Written in TypeScript, the tool uses a ReAct (Reason and Act) loop with built-in tools such as Google Search grounding, file operations, shell commands, and web fetching, plus Model Context Protocol (MCP) support. Launched in June 2025, it was superseded by Antigravity CLI for free and consumer tiers in June 2026, while enterprise customers retain uninterrupted access. The project is Apache 2.0 licensed on GitHub.
