Apple AFM 3 Core is the third generation of Apple's 3-billion-parameter dense on-device language model, introduced as part of the AFM 3 family at WWDC 2026 on June 8, 2026. It runs entirely on-device on Apple silicon hardware without cloud connectivity, and is designed for a broader range of devices than the more capable AFM 3 Core Advanced. The model supports image understanding (multimodal inputs) and was optimized using Quantization-Aware Training. Apple does not publish standardized third-party benchmark scores (such as MMLU percentages) for this model in the product announcement; independent benchmark comparisons are pending at the time of research.
