Amazon Rufus is a generative AI-powered shopping assistant integrated into the Amazon Shopping app and Amazon.com since February 2024. It answers product questions, generates comparisons, and makes recommendations using Amazon's product catalog, customer reviews, community Q&As, and web data. As of May 2026, Rufus was rebranded as "Alexa for Shopping" and merged with Alexa+, gaining agentic capabilities such as automated purchasing and price monitoring. The service is free for all Amazon customers and requires no Prime membership.
