Kolibri is an Open Source Mixture-of-Experts language model for German and English released by Aleph Alpha on October 3, 2026, with 78.1 billion total parameters, of which approximately 3.46 billion (4.4%) are active per Token. The model supports a native context window of 262,144 Token (tested up to 1,048,576 Token), offers four Reasoning levels, and provides Tool-Calling. It is available for download under the Apache 2.0 license on Hugging Face. Specifically designed for sovereign, regulation-compliant deployments in government, industry, and aerospace, it was trained entirely in Germany and Finland and is text-only without multimodality. A hosted API price per Token has not yet been published; usage is primarily via Self-Hosting.
