Aleph Alpha Kolibri (Kolibri-1) is an open-weight language model from the German company Aleph Alpha, released on October 3, 2026. It is a Mixture-of-Experts model with 78.1 billion total parameters, of which only around 3.46 billion (about 4.4%) are active per token. The model was trained entirely in Europe (Germany and Finland), primarily supports German and English, and is distributed as open weights on Hugging Face under the Apache 2.0 license. There is no officially hosted API with a published price list; the model is designed for self-hosting on the customer's own infrastructure.
