Kimi K2 is an Open Source language model from Moonshot AI, released in July 2025. It is a Mixture-of-Experts model (MoE) with 1 billion total parameters, of which 32 billion are activated per Token; it was trained with the MuonClip/Muon-Optimizer on 15.5 trillion Tokens. The model was specifically optimized for agentic capabilities (tool use, autonomous problem-solving) and achieved state-of-the-art results among open models at release, including on SWE-bench Verified. It is openly available under a modified MIT license (weights on Hugging Face/GitHub) and can be used via the Moonshot API as well as various third-party providers.
