Datasette Agent is an Open Source plugin for Datasette that provides an extensible AI assistant for interacting with SQLite databases. The assistant answers questions about data by writing and executing SQL queries, and can be extended via a plugin system (e.g., for charts, image generation, or sandboxed code execution). It supports numerous tool-capable LLMs from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini, as well as locally deployable Open Source models via the datasette-llm integration. The product is in early Alpha phase (first version 0.1a0) and was released by Simon Willison and the Datasette project.
