Mecatl is an open-source agent framework (cloud-native harness) developed by Stacklok for operating AI agents in production environments. It decouples the agent loop (tool dispatch, permissions, hooks, delegation) from client, model provider, and execution environment, enabling the same runtime to scale locally, remotely, or across Kubernetes clusters.
