SDXL (Stable Diffusion XL) is an open-source text-to-image generation model by Stability AI released in July 2023. It offers native 1024×1024 resolution and uses a 3.5 billion parameter base architecture with a 6.6 billion parameter refiner model. SDXL enables improved image quality, composition, and prompt understanding compared to earlier Stable Diffusion versions and can run on modern consumer GPUs.
