Gusto Cofounder is an agent-based AI assistant built specifically for small businesses and deeply embedded in the Gusto platform. It launches without manual setup using pre-existing context from Gusto (team data, payroll schedule, benefits, compliance calendar) and can optionally connect to third-party tools such as Google Workspace, Notion, QuickBooks, or any supported MCP server. The agent proactively handles tasks ranging from payroll runs and compliance monitoring to expense approvals, and communicates via SMS, Slack, or web. At the time of research, the product is in an early-access program.
