Ponytail is an open-source plugin (MIT license) for AI coding agents that guides them toward minimal code via a ruleset: YAGNI, the standard library and native platform features are preferred over custom dependencies. It is developed by DietrichGebert on GitHub and supports agents including Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI and OpenCode. The code-reduction figures come from the maintainer's own benchmarks.
