context-mode is an open-source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server and Claude Code plugin by developer Mert Köseoğlu (mksglu) that processes and indexes large tool outputs (e.g., Playwright snapshots, logs, GitHub issues) outside the context window of AI coding agents via a sandbox. Instead of loading raw data directly into the chat context, it executes tool calls in isolation and returns only compressed, relevant results, achieving up to 98% context reduction according to the provider. It also offers session continuity via a local SQLite/FTS5 database, allowing the agent to restore its working state after context compactions. Besides Claude Code, the tool also supports platforms like Gemini CLI, VS Code Copilot, Cursor, Codex, and OpenCode.
