Core is a screenless, local AI device from San Francisco startup Ghost (founded by Zain Javaid), unveiled on October 5, 2026 following an $11 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz. The device runs pre-installed Open-Weight models (including Qwen 3.8 and Gemma 4) entirely locally on an NVIDIA RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell GPU, continuously builds context from apps, files, and connected devices, and is controlled via a smartphone app using text or voice commands. Core costs $3,499 (plus VAT), requires no subscription, and stores models and personal context encrypted on-device; however, an internet connection is still needed for web search, email, and updates.
