Zhipu (marketed internationally as Z.ai) is a Chinese AI company founded in 2019 from Tsinghua University and based in Beijing, developing the GLM model family. The current flagship model GLM-5.2 is a Mixture-of-Experts language model with approximately 744-753 billion total parameters and roughly 40 billion active parameters per Token, designed for agentic programming, Reasoning, and long contexts (1 million Token). The product is provided via the chat interface chat.z.ai, a pay-per-Token API, and a subscription-based "GLM Coding Plan" for coding tools; the model weights are openly available under the MIT License.
