Bonsai 2 27B (also "Ternary Bonsai 2 27B") is a 27.36-billion-parameter multimodal language model by PrismML based on Qwen3.8-27B. Through ternary quantization (weights only as -1, 0, or +1), the model is compressed from approximately 54 GB (FP16) to about 5.9 GB, while reportedly maintaining 98.2% of the Benchmark performance of the original model. It supports a 262K-Token context window, text and image input, as well as Tool-Calling/agent functions, and is freely available under the Apache-2.0 license. UkisAI has published its own Reasoning-efficient derivative under the name "Swift Bonsai 2," which requires fewer thinking Tokens.
