GigaChat is a generative AI system and family of large language models developed by Russia's Sberbank (Sber), positioned since its April 2023 launch as a Russian-language alternative to ChatGPT. The current GigaChat 2 lineup (Lite/Pro/Max, released March 2025) uses a Mixture-of-Experts architecture with up to 128,000 tokens of context and supports text, image, and audio input. In November 2025 Sber additionally released open model weights under the MIT license for GigaChat 3 Ultra Preview (702B parameters, MoE) and GigaChat 3 Lightning, updated as GigaChat 3.1 in March 2026. Access is via the giga.chat web platform, a REST API (developers.sber.ru), and messenger/Sber-device integrations.
