Replika is an AI companion chatbot app released in November 2017 by Luka, Inc. (San Francisco), now used by more than 40 million people worldwide. The app runs on a proprietary large language model combined with scripted dialogue flows, keeps a personal memory of user preferences, and lets users choose the Replika's relationship role (friend, partner, mentor, etc.). It is accessible via native iOS and Android apps as well as a web browser, following a freemium model with paid Pro, Ultra, and Platinum subscription tiers unlocking voice calls, image generation, deeper personality customization, and internet access.
