Locus is an autonomous AI research system ("Artificial Scientist") from San Francisco lab Intology that executes complete R&D workflows—literature research, hypothesis formation, experiment design, execution, analysis, and reporting—without human intervention over multiple days. According to Intology, the system achieves superhuman results on RE-Bench with the same time and compute budget as human experts, as well as top scores on KernelBench, MLE-Bench Lite, and PostTrainBench. Locus also set a new record on the NanoGPT-Speedrun-Leaderboard in January 2026 by developing a novel kernel algorithm. The product is currently in Intology's beta program and will be made available for both research and enterprise purposes in the future.
