Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents (powered by OpenAI) is a jointly built, fully managed agent runtime product developed exclusively for AWS by AWS and OpenAI. It combines OpenAI frontier models (GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4) and the OpenAI agent harness with AWS infrastructure to enable production-ready AI agents in the cloud. The service handles inference, persistent memory, skills, and orchestration within the customer's AWS environment; each agent carries its own IAM identity and logs every action for auditability. Amazon Bedrock AgentCore serves as the default compute environment. The service launched in Limited Preview on April 28, 2026.
