Venice is a privacy-focused AI platform and API gateway providing OpenAI-compatible access to more than 200 open-source and proprietary models for text, image, video, and audio. Founded in 2024 by Erik Voorhees (ShapeShift) and Jesse Proudman, it positions itself as a private, uncensored alternative to ChatGPT and Claude. The company states it does not store prompts server-side, and monetizes via subscription tiers with a credit system as well as its own crypto tokens VVV/DIEM. In early July 2026, Venice raised $65 million at a $1 billion valuation.
