Maia is an agent-based AI platform by Matillion for Data Engineering that runs within the Matillion Data Productivity Cloud. It was introduced at the Snowflake Summit in June 2025 as a "team of agentic AI Data Engineers" and creates end-to-end data pipelines from natural language prompts. Maia explicitly positions itself not as a simple Copilot, but as an autonomous, multi-agent collaborator for data engineers that handles pipeline building, optimization, and maintenance.
