Momentum
Obscura is the first product from US mobile carrier Cape and consists of a preconfigured Android smartphone combined with a highly secure mobile service. It was originally developed for individuals with elevated security risks, such as military and government personnel, journalists, and human rights activists. The core feature is daily rotation of network identifiers (IMSI/IMEI), supplemented by SIM-Swap protection, encrypted voicemail, and protection against SS7 signaling attacks. The underlying identifier rotation technology was awarded the TIME Best Inventions Award in 2025 and is now also available through the regular Cape app for customers with compatible devices.
