Alexa for Shopping is Amazon's agentic AI shopping assistant that merges the former Rufus chatbot with the Alexa+ voice assistant. It is embedded directly in the Amazon search bar, answers product questions, compares items, tracks price history, and can autonomously build carts or trigger recurring purchases. The tool is available for free to U.S. customers on the Amazon Shopping app, Amazon.com, and Echo Show devices, without requiring a Prime membership or Alexa device. Technically, it runs on Amazon Bedrock and uses Anthropic's Claude models alongside Amazon's own Nova models.
